Hi everyone I think it's lovely idea to surprise
someone with a card when it isn't for a specific occasion such as a
birthday - and the card I am sharing today was for a very special lady
who lives on the other side of Australia just to let her know how loved
she is by our family. Now that C has the card, I can share it here on my blog:
This card is also for the Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge for August. Please see THIS LINK for the challenge details. The
main image is from a Lili of the Valley (UK) Art Pad called 'James and
Jenny Bear' Set 23 - and the designer papers are also by LOTV - Always
and Forever - all of which LOTV retired a little while ago :-( The
papers were designed by NitWit Collections for LOTV and you can buy and
download them here at NitWit's website - see THIS link. I
diecut the main image using my Big Shot and Lifestyle Nesting Circle
dies. The sentiment is also by LOTV and was stamped using Ranger
Archival Sepia ink. I coloured in the flowers on the sentiment using a pink pencil then added some tiny pink Molossi rhinestones to the flower centres. I popped the panel up on dimensionals. The bottom panel cardstock was punched using a Martha Stewart Lace Doily Edge punch. The lacey top-left corner is a die by Cuttlebug - Vintage Corner - which I diecut using my Cuttlebug from the designer paper. I diecut multiple layers of pale pink cardstock and glued them together then glued the designer paper on top so the diecut had some depth then added some Kaisercraft pink rhinestones to the top right and bottom left corners. The pink seam binding was added in two separate elements and the bow was made using my Bow Easy and attached with Fabric glue. The heart button was glued on using Crafter's Pick Incredibly tacky glue. I added Fray Stop to the cut ends to stop them from fraying. The layers were trimmed to 1/8" using my Perfect Layers Tools. I using an EK Success Arrows border punch to punch some tiny hearts (the leftover punchies look like tiny hearts) from dusky pink cardstock and added one to the sentiment panel and dotted the rest around the teddy bear. I added plenty of Stampin' Up Dazzling Details glitter glue to the tiny hearts, bunch of flowers and the tag and the teddy's bow. Here is a close-up:
Once I finished the card front, I glued it to a white card base. I decorated the card inside to match the card front:
Hi everyone, Well, it's been been ages since I made a card due to our family medical issues but thankfully, everything is looking very positive now and we can move forward - and I can start creating again as I am back to just caring for just one family member instead of two. It was actually really hard to start cardmaking again and initially, I felt really frustrated - but I had a deadline as it was my husband's birthday yesterday so I persevered and this is what I came up with:
This is also my card for the following Challenges:
Incy Wincy Designs - Anything Goes Splitcoaststampers - Free for All Friday - F4A337 - Think Cool Splitcoaststampers - Ways to Use It - WT588 - Make it Masculine Craftyhazelnut's Patterned Paper Challenge - August - Anything Goes
The main image is one of the first stamps I ever bought so probably dates to somewhere around 2008 and is the Bounty ship by Stamperoo (an Australian stamp company). I haven't heard of Stamperoo for a really long time so I doubt you would be able to find it anywhere - however, you could substitute Stampin' Up's The Open Sea as there is an old ship in that set. I stamped the ship using Ranger Archival Potting Soil ink onto Distress watercolour cardstock and didn't do any colouring other than the red flag at the top which was coloured with a Festive Berries Distress marker. I used Ranger Distress inks for the sky: Hickory Smoke, Pumice Stone and Stormy Sky - and Faded Jeans, Evergreen Bough, Iced Spruce and Stormy Sky for the sea. I used a round ink-blending tool to add Antique Linen around the edges of the image panel to make it look older.
Here is a close-up:
All the designer papers are by Kaisercraft from their Coastal Escape pad. This is one of my favourite all-time releases as I love the colours and designs. All the papers and cardstock have been edged with Antique Linen. I used my Lifestyle Nesting Circle dies to diecut the porthole from the woodgrain designer paper then cut multiple portholes from scrap teal-coloured cardstock so I could layer them up to give the porthole some depth. I glued them together with Tombow Mono Multi glue and once dry, poked holes with a paper piercer and added the antique copper brads. The side panel kraft cardstock was punched using a Fiskars Threading Water border punch which is one of my all-time favourite punches for masculine cards. I added a score line using a Martha Stewart Scoring board then butted the anchor paper up against that line. I added the Jute Ribbon, added Fray Stop to the cut edges to stop them from fraying, then popped the panel up on dimensionals. I tied on the anchor charm using some string. The sentiment is by WPlus9 - Basic Banners - and was stamped using Versamark Watermark ink and heat-set using Copper embossing powder. I diecut the sentiment using a Spellbinder Labels Trio die then popped the panel up on dimensionals. All the layers have been trimmed to 1/8" using my Perfect Layers Tools. Once I finished the card front, I attached it to a white cardstock base. Finished size is 140mm x 140mm or around 5-1/2" x 5-1/2". Thanks for visiting my blog today. It feels so good to be able to create again: I missed it so much and I can't wait to share my next creation with you! I am a crossword addict esp. cryptic crosswords and love to play the piano. I also love baking biscuits & cakes & watching my football club - Geelong Cats on the TV: I just can't seem to find the time to do ANY ironing LOL!
This Blog is dedicated to my American sister-in-law who has ALWAYS been a constant source of encouragement and enthusiasm to my cardmaking, and who first suggested that I start a Blog to showcase my cards.
