Maja Design Denim and Friends 21st Birthday Card!

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a 21st Birthday Card that I made for my Great-Nephew:

It is hard to believe that I am a Great-Aunt to a 21 year old as it makes me sound really old - but then again, my own daughter is 21 so there is a big generation gap.  Doesn't sound as bad when I think about it that way 😉

To make my card, I used a image from a 12" x 12" Denim and Friends designer paper that has all these AWESOME masculine photos perfect for just about any occasion.  All the designer papers on my card are from this same collection.  I have had this collection for a while and you can still get it in Australia - not sure about other countries.

I used a Uniquely Creative Edge Distressing Tool to rough up all the edges of every layer.  I recently bought this tool and I have to say how fantastic it is and alot easier than using the blade of my scissors - and much safer for my fingers!

All the layers are trimmed to either 1/16" or 1/8" using my WRMK Perfect Layers Guides.

The Kraft Cardstock is by Anko which I bought from KMart Australia and matched the card perfectly.

The 21 was diecut from Kraft Cardstock using a very old set of Cuttlebug dies called Baby Face.  These dies are thicker than the usual dies you buy nowadays and I wasn't sure of the sandwich for my Big Shot - so brought out my old and very-loved Cuttlebug and used it instead.  I remember getting my Cuttlebug from my local scrapbooking store after seeing them demonstrate dry-embossing.  I thought it was really amazing to dry-emboss something to add texture to your card.   My first embossing folder was the Swiss Dots and I still use that folder as it just doesn't date.

I diecut a Navy Blue Cardstock circle using my Big Shot and Lifestyle Nesting Circles die then glued the numbers on top.  I added some Uniquely Creative Twine as it just needed a little something extra.

I glued on the Wooden Happy Birthday and Stars using Helmar's 450 Quick Dry Adhesive then glued the card front to a Cream Card Base using Tombow Mono Multi Glue.

Finished size is 5-7/8" x 4-1/4" or 149mm x 108mm.

Thanks for stopping by!

Jocelyn
