Penny Black: Wish you were near.......

Hello and welcome to my Blog :-)

When Fat Cat's Card Corner sent me this Penny Black image "Wish you were near" as part of my Design Team pack, I literally squealed with delight!  Oh my gosh - isn't it just so adorable?!!  As you probably can already tell from my Blog, I LOVE Penny Black stamps, so I couldn't wait to ink this little guy up!  It is a slapstick unmounted stamp that you just pop on your stamp block - it already comes with the cushion and the back of the pack has a coloured picture of the image which is helpful for colouring the image.

I stamped the image onto 140lb/300gsm Watercolour paper and watercoloured it with JoSonya Acrylic paints.  The sentiment I actually cut into 4 pieces so I could fit the words into my Spellbinders diecut circle - very handy having an umounted stamp that you can chop up!  The 3 stars around the sentiment are the leftover punchies from my Martha Stewart Stars punch - they were just the right size that I needed.  The blue circle was punched with a 43mm Kaszazz circle punch as the layering looked better having a narrow border than the next size up of circle nesties. The sentiment panel is also up on 1mm mounts (dimensionals).

The side panel has a score line next to the Fiskars Threading water punched border - you probably can't see the line, but trust me, it's there.  I made it with my Martha Stewart Scoring Board and put it there so that when I add the designer paper to the panel, I can butt it up against this line and I know that it's straight.

Aren't the designer papers gorgeous?!  I love these colours - they seemed to be perfect for this image.  All the designer papers are digital papers by NitWit - Series "Snow Folk" ©2009 by Mary Fran of www.nitwitcollections.com    The papers are from 2 collections:  Snow Folk Too and Snow Folk Collection  The striped heart on top of the ribbon is one of the elements that comes with the set - there are several different hearts in the set - just adjusted the size I wanted on my Scanner program, and pressed "print" to print it on white cardstock, then simply cut it out.

Thanks again for stopping by to have a peek at my card!
