Penny Black Egg Painting Easter card
Hi everyone
Please excuse my lack of blogging since Christmas. Life has been very busy with some major and very stressful issues including medical stuff to deal with - but the Easter break has afforded me a little bit of crafting time to make an Easter card for my daughter. I started it yesterday afternoon (Easter Saturday) and finished it just before bedtime! It felt soooo good to be creative again but I did feel a bit rusty with my colouring! Now that it's school holidays here in Victoria, I hope to have some more crafty-time.
This is also my entry for the following Challenges:
Penny Black Saturday Challenge - March - Easter
Splitcoaststampers Free for All Friday Challenge - F4A318 - Bunny Hop - make a card with a bunny on it and it doesn't have to relate to Easter
Splitcoastampers MIX164 - Celebate Spring
Fan-Tastic Tuesday where it's Hip to be Square Challenge #129 - Anything Goes with a twist of Cute Critters + your card must be square
Little Red Wagon Challenge #334 - Happy Easter/Spring
The adorable image is by Penny Black - Egg-Painting. It was stamped onto Ranger Distress Watercolour cardstock using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink and coloured with a large mix of mediums: Faber-Castell, Lyra, Derwent Inktense + Albrecht-Durer watercolour pencils, Tombow pens and Winsor and Newton watercolour paints + a round paintbrush. I dry-brushed some white acrylic paint on the eggs to add some highlights plus I went over the lighter areas on the bunnies. Once I had finished coloring the image, I used a Copic fine black multiliner to go over the areas where the outline was a little lost.
I added Stampin' Up Dazzling Details glitter glue to the bunnies' cheeks, wings on the bees plus the dots, flowers and stripes on the eggs. The other parts of the eggs plus the daisy petals have been glittered with my Wink of Stella clear glitter brush (which never shows up in photos unfortunately). Here is a close-up so you can see the detail:
I used an EK Success Arrows border punch to punch some tiny pink hearts (they are the leftover punchies which look like tiny hearts) and added them around the bunnies. These also were glittered using Dazzling Details.
The main image was diecut using a Lifestyle (Quickutz) Nesting Card Template die. The teal and pink cardstock layers were trimmed to 1/8" and 1/16" respectively using my Perfect Layers tools. The designer paper is by Echo Park - Happy Easter: so pretty, don't you think?
The sentiment is by Lawn Fawn from their newly released Chirpy Chirp Chirp set. I initially stamped it on the image panel but then noticed there was a bracket ")" at the end of the word! DOH! But thankfully it was an easy-fix as I could put a sentiment panel over the top of my mistake and just mask off the bracket at the end when re-stamping. PHEW! I diecut the sentiment using a Spellbinders Labels Trio die, added Kaisercraft Soft Pink rhinestones then popped it up using dimensionals.
The teal organza ribbon was added in 2 separate elements and the bow itself was made using my Bow Easy. I added Fray Stop to the cut ends to stop them from fraying.
I glued on some Teal Sparklets using Ranger Multi Medium Matte. These Sparklets were purchased from EBay a few years ago.
Lastly, I attached my card front to a white cardstock base.
Thanks for stopping by!
Jocelyn
