Penny Black Love Tail Valentine's Day Card

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a Valentine's Day Card that I made for my daughter:

This is also my card for the following Challenges:
  • Penny Black Saturday Challenge - February - Anything Goes or Romance
  • Splitcoaststampers - Free for All Friday F4A833 - Valentine
  • Critter Crazy Challenge #107 - Anything Goes - with a Featured Critter (real or fantasy)
  • We Love Stamping - February - Hearts or Anything Goes
The main image is by Penny Black - Love Tail - which is from 2006.  I still love this image as much as the day I bought it!  I stamped it using Versafine Onyx Black Ink onto Ranger Watercolour Cardstock, then coloured it using Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers using a Zig Blender Pen for all my blending instead of water.  I only recently found out that Zig makes this Blender Pen and this was my first try out with using it.  I absolutely LOVE it and it is so easy to use.

I went around the image with a Lyra Sky Blue Watercolour Pencil.  First, I scribbled the pencil onto some scrap watercolour cardstock and added some water, then picked the colour up with my #4 Round Paintbrush and smooshed it around so it is very light but takes away the stark white of the watercolour cardstock.  I went over the image with an Anko 0.05 Black Pigment Pen to darken up the black lines.  Here is a close-up:

I diecut the image using a QuicKutz Nesting Card Templates Die and my Big Shot, then diecut the next size up from Colormates Dark Racy Raspberry Cardstock.

All the designer papers are by Simple Stories - Love and Adore - which first came out in 2016 so are 10 years old.

The sentiment is by Lawn Fawn - Love Letters - and was stamped using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.  I diecut the panel using a Lifestyle Nesting Circles Die, then diecut the scalloped circle using a Spellbinders Petite Scalloped Small Circles Die.

The main image panel is popped up on scraps of white cardstock and the sentiment is popped up on the top and RHS with 1mm Self-Adhesive Doublesided Foam Pads.  The bottom LHS of the sentiment panel is glued flush to the main image panel.

I punched some tiny hearts from Dark Racy Raspberry Cardstock using my EK Success Arrows Border Punch.  The leftover punchies look like tiny hearts and are perfect for adding a little something extra to your card.  I glued three around the sentiment and two on the main image panel using Art Glitter Glue fitted with a fine nozzle.

I thought about adding a ribbon or some rhinestones but didn't really have the right colour to match so just left the card as-is; I guess I am just keeping it simple.

Once I had finished my card front, I glued it to a White Kaisercraft Card Base using Tombow Mono Multi Glue.

As a final touch, I added some Uniquely Creative Clear Sparkle Brush to the hearts and flowers as well as the tiny hearts.

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

Lawn Fawn Bon Voyage Card

Hi everyone,

Today I am sharing a Bon Voyage Card that I made for my daughter who has gone to Japan for a Study Tour as part of her University Course.

This is the first time that she has travelled overseas so it has been alot of organising and figuring out what is OK (and not OK) to bring into Japan - getting a really good suitcase, travel plug, power bank and a whole lot of other stuff to wrap our heads around.  I have never been overseas either so it's all new to me too!

Because my daughter was going to Japan, I decided to go with a red and white plane to mimic the colours of the Japanese flag.  The only Bon Voyage set I have in my stash is by Lawn Fawn and it was perfect for what I needed.  It was a very last minute make as we had just been so busy so I thought it was quicker and easier to stamp the plane onto red cardstock and diecut it instead of trying to colour it in.  I restamped the plane onto white cardstock and fussy-cut the windows and nose and went around the edges with a Black Sakura Pigma 0.3 Pen to hide any white edges - then glued them on using Tombow Mono Multi glue.

I stamped the clouds using Memento Summer Sky Ink then diecut them and popped them up on a double lot of dimensionals.

The blue watercolour wash background is a sheet of designer paper from Lawn Fawn's Watercolor 6" x 6" pad.  Made it quick and easy so I didn't have to paint a sky.

I thought I would turn the card into an Interactive Card just for something fun so I used a die from the My Favorite Things Surf and Turf die set and glued on a MFT Slider Element to the back of the plane then diecut a small white cardstock circle using a die that came with the Surf and Turf die set and glued that to the slider element.  I used a Powder Tool to go around those two elements to help the plane slide easily in the channel.

I diecut the sentiment using a Spellbinders Shapeabilities Labels Trio die then went around the edge using Versacolor Scarlet ink.  The entire panel was popped up on a double lot of Uniquely Creative Dimensionals to a blue card base so the plane slides easily in its channel.

I added some Sullivans self-adhesive Red Stars to finish off the card.  This is my first time making this type of interactive card and I am ever-so-pleased with how it turned out and it was ALOT of fun!!  I have always been very intimidated in making Interactive Cards and tend to be a one-trick pony - but now I feel brave enough to try another one ๐Ÿ˜

Thanks for visiting my blog today.

Hunkydory Easter Bunny Card

Hi everyone ๐Ÿ˜€

Today I am sharing an Easter card that I made for my daughter:

This is also my card for the Crafty Catz Challenge blog - #545 - Anything Goes with the Optional Twist of Colour Inspiration.  Please click on #545 to take you to their blog.

The main image is by Hunkydory and came free with a UK magazine ages ago.  All the designer papers are by Kaisercraft - Lilac Avenue - which is long retired.    I am on a mission to use up my stash of papers.  I hoarded these papers because I love purple and you don't often get purple-toned pads - but it's time to use them and enjoy them.

I layered the main image onto the designer papers using my Perfect Layers Tools to trim the edges to 1/16" and 1/8" respectively.  The tag is also from the same Lilac Avenue pad.  The sentiment is from the Lawn Fawn - Chirpy Chirp Chirp stamp set and was stamped using Lawn Fawn Grape Jelly ink.

Here is close-up of the tag:

I attached the Purple Organza Ribbon then added the tag.   I made a bow using my Bow Easy and glued that on top using fabric glue.

I glued the whole panel onto a white card base using Tombow Mono Multi glue.

I added 3 x Kaisercraft Lilac Rhinestones on the bottom right-hand side and an Artwrap gold heart crystal sticker (which I bought from my local Newsagent) on the bees trail just to add something in that area.  Lastly, I added some sparkle to the tag using my Wink of Stella Clear Glitter brush.

Here is a close-up of the bee and gold heart:

Finished size is 5" x 5" or 127mm x 127mm.

Thanks for visiting my blog today.  Happy Easter everyone๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ˜˜

Lawn Fawn Spooktacular Halloween Card!

Hi everyoneSmiley from Millan.Net

Just stopping in to share the Halloween card that I gave to my daughter.  It's not often that I start and finish a card on the same day - but I knew exactly what I wanted to do and CASEd the layout and basic design from THIS card that I originally saw on someone's blog but made a few changes:

I have been recently playing around with doing Galaxy Distress Ink backgrounds and thought I would try one using Halloween colours  ie: orange, green, purple and black - so I chose Carved Pumpkin, Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron and Black Soot.  I smooshed the inks onto my craft mat and sprayed them with water then dabbed them onto my Ranger watercolour cardstock with a large round paintbrush.  I didn't want to dip the cardstock into the colours as I would normally do because I knew the colours would turn a muddy brown if they mixed too much together.  I did several layers and dried each layer off with my heat gun.

I used my Ranger round ink blending tool and Black Soot Distress Ink and went over the whole piece then dried it off again with my heat tool.  Galaxy backgrounds always look like a hot mess before you add the stars but you just have to keep going and not be tempted to bin it!   I spritzed the cardstock with clean water and blotted it up with a paper towel then splattered the cardstock using watered-down white acrylic paint and an old toothbrush then dried the panel off again with my heat-gun.

All the images and the sentiment are from the Lawn Fawn stamp/die set 'Spooktacular'.  I stamped the images onto Ranger watercolour cardstock using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink and coloured them with Derwent Inktense pencils and a #2 round paintbrush.  I added Clear Wink of Stella to the ghost, fangs on the bat, the eyes and mouth on the pumpkin and the moon - alas, not captured by the camera.

The sentiment was stamped using Versamark Watermark ink and heat-set using Stampin' Up White embossing powder.  The designer paper for the side panel is by Graphic 45 - Abracadabra from their 'An Eerie Tale Collection' from 2014 and was diecut using a My Favorite Things Stitched Interactive Window Trio die and my Big Shot.  Because this die only diecuts 3 sides of the square and the 4th is just a crease line, I trimmed this line with my craft knife.  The squares are meant to be like a peek-a-boo window that you open up.  I like how the die cuts the stitching detail on the outside of the window for a bit of interest.  I rounded the corners of the panel using a 1/8" Corner Chomper.

I tied on the Darice twine then glued the green panel and the moon to my galaxy background using Tombow Mono Multi glue then glued the images inside and just tucked them into the panel as the glue was still wet which made it easy.

Lastly, I glued the finished panel to a dark purple card base.

Thanks for stopping by!

Jocelyn

Elzybells Teddy Surprise birthday card

Hi everyoneSmiley from Millan.Net

Today I am sharing a birthday card that I made for my daughter using a retired Elzybells stamp set called "Teddy Surprise" - but Penny Black brought out a set using all but one of the images on my card which is called "Wishes and Hugs" PNY-CS-30222 which is fantastic.  I am super-happy that some of the Elzybells images are still available: I still adore them as much as I did when I first started cardmaking years ago ๐Ÿ˜  The only image that is missing from the set is my first image ie: just the present.

This is also my card for the following Challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 484 - Anything Goes

Crafty Catz - Challenge 377 - Anything Goes with an Optional Twist of Embossing - dry and/or heat.  I used dry embossing.

Little Red Wagon - Challenge 400 - Three of a Kind - it can be three identical items or three items of a similar kind.  My three items are the 3 images as well as the 3 presents.

I stamped the images using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink onto Ranger Watercolour cardstock and coloured them (other than the presents) using Derwent Inktense pencils + Faber-Castell watercolour pencils and a #2 round paintbrush.  I went around the images with a light blue watercolour pencil and faded the colour out.

I inked up just the presents then restamped on my designer paper so I could paper-piece the presents.  The paper came from Riot Art and Craft and is by My Memories and I used the flip-side to paper-piece the presents.  I coloured the circles with a dark purple watercolour pencil.  I also re-stamped the bear's paws on image #2 and popped them up on dimensionals so they were higher than the present and looked more realistic.  I went around all the images with a black marker to hide any white lines/my uneven cutting.  Here is a close-up of the 2nd image:

I thought it would be fun to have a "lift-up" panel on the card front as my take on the trendy interactive cards.  The dry embossing is my old favourite Cuttlebug embossing folder called Swiss Dots which I embossed using my Big Shot.

Lawn Fawn recently came out with a stamp and die set called "Push Here" which has all that you need for when you make interactive cards and want to let the recipient know what to do with their card - so I used the "Open Here" stamp with the half-circle stitched die which you can see in the 1st photo.

I trimmed all the card layers to either 1/16" or 1/8" using my Perfect Layers Tools.  I used my EK Success Arrows border punch to punch tiny little hearts (if you a regular reader of my blog, you know that the leftover punchies look like tiny hearts to me!) and popped them around the 2nd image and the image inside the card.

The inside dry embossing is also an old favourite Cuttlebug folder called Happy Birthday which is still readily available or there are several other brands of similar embossing folders.

I added the lilac organza ribbon in 2 separate elements and the bow itself was made using my Bow Easy.  I added Fray Stop to the cut ends to stop them from fraying.

Of course, everything got the glitter-treatment from my Stampin' Up Dazzling Details glitter glue:  the circles and bows on the presents, butterflies, tiny hearts, balloons, teddy's cheeks and confetti.

I went over parts of the images with a Copic black fine multiliner pen to darken some of the black lines especially the eyes, nose and mouth.  Here is a close-up of the inside image:

Do you still visit blogs on a regular basis?  With so many online sharing platforms these days such as Instagram, Flickr, Pinterest, Facebook, You-Tube etc., I sometimes wonder how much blogs have perhaps taken a back seat compared to years ago when I first started this blog.  Perhaps people are more interested in seeing the finished product and not necessarily interested in the process of how it was made(?).  I know my viewing habits have changed in the past couple of years and I watch more You-Tube than I do television.  I also love to share my garden/nature/sky/cat photos on Instagram which I joined about 18 months ago.  You just run out of time to look at everything otherwise you would be online 24/7 and never do anything else!  Let me know your thoughts in a comment ๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you for visiting my blog today!

Memory Box Springtime Bunnies Easter card

Hi everyoneSmiley from Millan.Net

Today I am sharing a card that I made for my daughter for Easter which I made on Easter Saturday.

This is also my card for the following Challenges:

Crafty Catz Challenge #366 - Anything goes with an optional twist of Animals

Splitcoaststampers - Free for All F4A369 - Think Spring

The adorable images (other than the butterfly) are by Memory Box from their Springtime Bunnies and Birthday Bunnies stamp sets.  Specifically, the bow and the carrot are from the Birthday Bunnies set and the eggs, both bunnies, basket of eggs and sentiment are from Springtime Bunnies.  I have had these 2 sets for a while and been itching to make a card with them.  The butterfly and the trail are from the Lawn Fawn Chirpy Chirp Chirp set.

I stamped the images onto Ranger Watercolour cardstock using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink then coloured the images using Derwent Inktense pencils and a #2 round paintbrush.  I have been very out-of-practice doing any colouring of late so I had a few attempts before I was happy with the final result.  I diecut all the images with the matching dies.

The sky and lawn are from the latest release 6" x 6" pad by Lawn Fawn - Watercolour Wishes.  I diecut the lawn using a Lawn Fawn Simple Stitched Hillside border die then attached it to the sky then ran it through my Bigshot using a Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle die.

I drew on a few extra lines of my butterfly trail with a Copic black multiliner pen as the stamped line wasn't quite long enough.

The rainbow paper is also by Lawn Fawn - Perfectly Plaid Rainbow from their 6" x 6" pad.  I diecut the bottom using a Lawn Fawn Stitched Scallop borders die just to add a bit of interest.

The twine is from KMart (Australia) which came in a pack of 5 plain colours.  It's very thin compared to other twines but I really like the colours  Lastly, I added some sparkle using a Wink of Stella Clear glitter brush to all the eggs, bow, butterfly and the bunny cheeks - which as always, is very hard to see in the photo but looks really pretty in real life :-) The eggs are popped up on dimensionals.

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

Penny Black Egg Painting Easter card

Hi everyoneSmiley from Millan.Net

Please excuse my lack of blogging since Christmas.  Life has been very busy with some major and very stressful issues including medical stuff to deal with - but the Easter break has afforded me a little bit of crafting time to make an Easter card for my daughter.  I started it yesterday afternoon (Easter Saturday) and finished it just before bedtime!  It felt soooo good to be creative again but I did feel a bit rusty with my colouring!  Now that it's school holidays here in Victoria, I hope to have some more crafty-time.

This is also my entry for the following Challenges:

Penny Black Saturday Challenge - March - Easter

Splitcoaststampers Free for All Friday Challenge - F4A318 - Bunny Hop - make a card with a bunny on it and it doesn't have to relate to Easter

Splitcoastampers MIX164 - Celebate Spring

Fan-Tastic Tuesday where it's Hip to be Square Challenge #129 - Anything Goes with a twist of Cute Critters + your card must be square

Little Red Wagon Challenge #334 - Happy Easter/Spring

The adorable image is by Penny Black - Egg-Painting.  It was stamped onto Ranger Distress Watercolour cardstock using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink and coloured with a large mix of mediums:  Faber-Castell, Lyra, Derwent Inktense + Albrecht-Durer watercolour pencils, Tombow pens and Winsor and Newton watercolour paints + a round paintbrush.  I dry-brushed some white acrylic paint on the eggs to add some highlights plus I went over the lighter areas on the bunnies.  Once I had finished coloring the image, I used a Copic fine black multiliner to go over the areas where the outline was a little lost.

I added Stampin' Up Dazzling Details glitter glue to the bunnies' cheeks, wings on the bees plus the dots, flowers and stripes on the eggs.  The other parts of the eggs plus the daisy petals have been glittered with my Wink of Stella clear glitter brush (which never shows up in photos unfortunately).  Here is a close-up so you can see the detail:

I used an EK Success Arrows border punch to punch some tiny pink hearts (they are the leftover punchies which look like tiny hearts) and added them around the bunnies.  These also were glittered using Dazzling Details.

The main image was diecut using a Lifestyle (Quickutz) Nesting Card Template die.  The teal and pink cardstock layers were trimmed to 1/8" and 1/16" respectively using my Perfect Layers tools.  The designer paper is by Echo Park - Happy Easter:  so pretty, don't you think?

The sentiment is by Lawn Fawn from their newly released Chirpy Chirp Chirp set.  I initially stamped it on the image panel but then noticed there was a bracket ")" at the end of the word!  DOH!  But thankfully it was an easy-fix as I could put a sentiment panel over the top of my mistake and just mask off the bracket at the end when re-stamping.  PHEW!  I diecut the sentiment using a Spellbinders Labels Trio die, added Kaisercraft Soft Pink rhinestones then popped it up using dimensionals.

The teal organza ribbon was added in 2 separate elements and the bow itself was made using my Bow Easy.  I added Fray Stop to the cut ends to stop them from fraying.

I glued on some Teal Sparklets using Ranger Multi Medium Matte.  These Sparklets were purchased from EBay a few years ago.

Lastly, I attached my card front to a white cardstock base.

Thanks for stopping by!

Jocelyn

Lawn Fawn Hippo Birdie to You Birthday Card

Hi blogging friendsSmiley from Millan.Net

Sorry for my long absence:  one way or another life got in the way and I've been very unwell of late but things are starting to settle down now so hopefully, I should be able to post more often and get back on-track to visit your blogs.

And today, I am sharing a birthday card that I made for my beautiful daughter to celebrate her 12th birthday using some very cute Lawn Fawn stamps.

This is also my card for the following Challenges:

Lawnscaping Challenge #109 of Sparkle and Shine - anything that sparkles or shines eg: sequins, glossy accents, glitter, Wink of Stella glitter pens, bling etc.

Crafty Catz Challenge #286 of Anything Goes

Cute Card Thursday Challenge #380 of We Love Cake - any cards or projects that include cake

First of all, I made the background using Ranger Distress Inks.  I smooshed Picked Raspberry, Tumbled Glass and Shabby Shutters Distress Inks onto my Craft Mat then sprayed them with water.  I lay my piece of Ranger Distress Watercolour Cardstock into the colours and but made sure that I had the green colour along the bottom so it kind-of looked like grass where I would be placing my animals - and the blue and pink where the sky would be.  I dried the cardstock off with my heat-gun then used an old toothbrush to splatter almost full-strength Picked Raspberry and Tumbled Glass over my panel.  I did drip some clean water over the panel to create water spots (like Kristina Werner loves to do) but they are largely hidden by the splatters. Oh well!

The hippo, bird on his back, bird's party hat and balloon are all from the Lawn Fawn Year Four set - and the 2 birds on the ground, presents and the cake that the bird is holding are from the recently released Lawn Fawn Party Animal set.  I stamped them using Ranger Archival Jet Black ink onto Ranger Distress Watercolour cardstock and coloured them using Faber-Castell watercolour pencils plus the same Distress Inks I used for my background.  I fussy-cut the hippo + birdie etc. because I had layered/stamped the images together and diecut the presents and birds on the ground using the matching Party Animals dies.

All the animals are up on dimensionals and I added Stampin' Up Dazzling Details glitter glue to the balloon, pink icing and candle-flame on the cake, the party hats and the ribbons on the presents.

I must admit to being very taken with Lawn Fawn stamps:  the critters are particularly adorable and I love how you can mix and match sets so easily.

Here is a close-up of those cute-as-a-button images:

I cut the sentiment from the Year Four set in half so I could have 2 lines which I think balances the card nicely.  Lastly, I added blue and pink iridescent star sequins and clear iridescent round sequins here and there using Tombow Mono Multi glue.  I buy most of my sequins from $2 shops here in Australia:  most of them have a stand with a really good range of shapes and colours and they don't cost very much.  Riot Art and Craft also stocks a good range of colours as does Spotlight but are a bit more expensive.

The Happy Birthday designer paper is an old one from my stash - the back side of the Jillibean Soup - Spotted Owl Soup.  All the layers were trimmed to 1/8" using my Perfect Layers Tools.

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope to see you again soon!

Jocelyn

Lawn Fawn Winter Penguin Christmas card

Hi blogging friendsFrom Millan.Net

I am finally getting back into the groove of making cards on a regular basis.  Funny how when you have hardly made any cards for a while, it seems difficult to get everything flowing again.  I haven't coloured anything much for ages and it was almost like I had forgotten how:  I felt so rusty!  But with Christmas fast-approaching, I need to get my skates on as I haven't made very many Christmas cards this year - and today I am sharing a card using a super-cute little penguin from Lawn Fawn which is my entry for the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Anything Goes
Christmas Stampin' All Year Long - Challenge 36 - Anything Goes

I dry-embossed a piece of Ranger Distress watercolour cardstock using my Big Shot and Ultimate Crafts Snowflake Frame embossing folder (which was a recent purchase at a Craft Show in October and is a 2014 release).  I really love how this folder has a blank section in the middle for your image.

To do the background, I drew a wavy line with my pencil as a guide for where I wanted my skyline then used an old paintbrush to drop in dots of Masking Fluid where I wanted the snow to be.  Once this was dry, I wet the cardstock with clear water using a flat paintbrush and dropped in some watered-down Winsor and Newton watercolour paints in blues, purple and a little bit of grey and just let them mingle together.  I left it to dry and then used my finger to rub off the Masking Fluid which left white dots for snow.  I also painted the area to the left of the penguin with watered-down Ultramarine watercolour paint.  The sky looks quite a bit paler in the photo than in real life and you can see the detail a bit better in the close-up photo a bit further down.

I was a bit clumsy when I painted the sky and some colour leaked into the dry-embossed frame (next time I will mask off that section!) and it didn't look very good so I tried to sponge the colour out but just made it worse!  I was getting very cheesed off and almost tossed the jolly thing out - but then came up with the idea of adding a diecut frame over the embossed frame to hide the mess and was lucky to find one that was almost the right size and figured it was near-enough so ran with it.  I glued it on using Tombow Mono Multi glue.  Phew!  And you know, I actually preferred having a frame over the centre compared to no frame.

I stamped the penguin onto Distress watercolour cardstock using Ranger Jet Black archival ink and coloured him with Festive Berries and Peacock Feathers Distress Markers and Black Soot Distress ink.  I added some white dots on the scarf using a white gel pen then diecut the penguin using the matching Lawn Fawn die.

The sentiment is also from the Winter Penguin stamp set and was stamped with RangerJet Black ink and Ancient Page Cardinal dye ink.

I drew in the black skating line using a Zig black pen then glued on the 3 x pale teal snowflakes around the image.  The snowflakes are the leftover punchies from using a Martha Stewart Snow Flurry edge punch:  I love these punchies because the snowflakes are so tiny and perfect for adding as little embellishments.  I added silver rhinestones to the centres.

Here is a close-up of the main panel:

The white snowflakes are by My Favorite Things - and I used the smallest and 2nd smallest dies.  I popped them up on dimensionals and added red rhinestones.

I layered the main panel onto red cardstock and trimmed the edges to 1/16" using my Perfect Layers Tools.

Lastly, I used a Clear Wink of Stella glitter pen to add some sparkle to the scarf, skates and the pale teal snowflakes and some Glossy Accents to the penguin's beak.

Before I go, I forgot to share on my last post the Halloween card that my daughter gave me:

Pretty cool, don't you think?!

And just a snippet of happy news:  my Halloween card (see THIS blogpost) was picked as one of the favourites for the week on Splitcoaststampers - yay me!  And my card was also showcased as one of the top 4 picks over at Diecutting Divas (you can see the details HERE - just scroll down till you see my card!)  Oh my gosh, I can hardly believe it!!From Millan.Net

Thanks for visiting my blog today.
