Memory Box Silent Snowflake Frame and Deer Trio Christmas Card

Here is another white-on-white Christmas Card that I enjoyed making so much:

The dotted dry embossing is an old retired folder called Cuttlebug Kars Snowflake which I have used for many, many years.  Even though it is retired, there are so many snowflake embossing folders available these days that you could easily substitute.   The 3 deer are an old Memory Box Deer Trio die which is still available.  The diecut snowy frame is by Memory Box - Silent Snowflake Frame - which I believe is retired.  

I layered them all together then glued them onto a silver glitter cardstock frame which was trimmed to 1/16" using my We R Memory Keepers Perfect Layers Guides.

The sentiment is from a retired set by My Favorite Things - Starry Christmas.  I stamped it using Versarmark Watermark ink and heat-set it using Ranger Silver Super-fine Embossing Powder.  It was diecut using a Spellbinders Shapeabilities Labels Trio die - the 2nd largest in the set.  This is another set of dies that I use often and have had for well over 10 years.

The silver glitter snowflakes beside the sentiment and above the deer are from my box of diecut and punched snowflakes.  I glued them on using Tombow Mono Multi Glue then added a Franceville 2mm Adhesive Crystal Rhinestone to the centres.

Lastly, I glued the card front to a white card base using Tombow Mono Multi glue leaving a 1/8" border.

Finished size is:  5-13/16" x 4-9/16" or 148mm x 115mm.

Today I am sharing another Christmas Card.  If you have been a regular visitor to my blog over the years, you will know that I love to make white-on-white Christmas Cards where I combine various dies and embossing folders that (hopefully) creates something elegant.  So, here it is:  

Probably the hardest thing is taking a good photo!

Memory Box Dancing Snowflake Frame Christmas card

Hi everyone

Just stopping in to share a few Christmas cards that I made this Christmas season.  I will share them over several blog posts otherwise this blog post would go on forever!  This particular one I finished on Christmas Eve!  I wasn't well from the last week in November so only ended up making a few cards which was very frustrating!

Onto my card:  the snowflake frame is by Memory Box - Dancing Snowflake Frame.  Once you diecut the cardstock, you then pop it back into your diecutting machine with an embossing pad (and obviously change the sandwich compared to a diecutting sandwich!) and then the frame embosses a few extra elements around the frame.  I don't actually find that it works terribly well even if I add a shim or two but hey, it still looks OK.  If anyone has any recommendations as to how you can make it work better, please let me know!

The deer are also by Memory Box - Deer Trio.  The background dry embossing is an old retired Cuttlebug embossing folder - Kars Snowflake but there are numerous brands of similar embossing folders that you can buy that will do the same job.  I often get emails about where it can be purchased but it would be like finding a needle in a haystack!  I glued all the layers together using Tombow Mono Multi glue then attached the panel to silver glitter cardstock using Ranger Wonder tape which is a strong adhesive and works really well in those situations where regular doublesided tape doesn't adhere very well.  I trimmed the silver glitter cardstock to 1/16" using my Perfect Layers Tools

The sentiment is by My Favorite Things - Starry Christmas - which is a few years old and probably retired too - but again, there are plenty of brands you can substitute.  I prepared my cardstock using a powder tool then stamped the sentiment using Versamark Watermark ink and heat-embossed it using Ranger Superfine silver embossing powder.

I diecut the sentiment using a My Favorite Things Fishtail Flag Stax die.  As I wanted a fishtail at both ends but the die only cuts a fishtail on one end, once I had diecut one end, I simply flipped the die around to diecut the other end so it was a perfect match.

I added a Papermania silver star rhinestone to each end of the sentiment panel then attached the panel using doublesided tape.

I diecut some snowflakes out of silver glitter cardstock using a Poppystamps Valley Snowflakes die set then glued them onto the scene using Tombow Mono Multi glue.  I added a tiny Papermania silver rhinestone to the snowflake centres.

Once I had finished my card front, I attached it to a white card base.

Penny Black Cat Frolic - a glittery birthday card

I am feeling pretty yuk this afternoon as I had a vaccination (Diptheria, Tetanus and Whooping Cough) this morning and just want to sit on the couch and do nothing as I have a bit of a temperature and I'm tired and a bit achy - but thought I should get on with finishing off some cards as I have a lot of extended-family birthdays coming up over the next few weeks.  We were at hospital all day yesterday with my loved one for routine appointments - all is going well thankfully - and we have more appointments next week so I don't have alot of crafting time at the moment.  So instead of being a blob on the couch, I have been busy trying to get ahead with my cards instead of leaving them to the last minute as is often the case!

Today I am sharing a card that I made for my sister-in-law's birthday:

The image is by Penny Black (of course - what else??!!) and is called 'Cat Frolic' which I think is adorable:  check out that happy smile!  I stamped the image onto watercolour paper using Versafine Vintage Sepia ink and coloured it using a mix of Tombow Pens plus Watercolour pencils and a paintbrush.  I lightly chalked around the image with blue chalk and added Kindyglitz Crystalina glitter glue to the flowers, butterflies and cat's cheeks.  I used my Arrows Border punch to punch 5 tiny little pink hearts out of pink glitter cardstock (ie: the leftover punchies which look like tiny little hearts to me) and glued them around the image.

I went for a really simple layout - one of my "go to" layouts when I can't think properly like I am now:  my head feels like it is stuffed with cotton wool!

The tag and sentiment are from My Favourite Things:  Notched Tag and Die set.  The heart on the sentiment is a die from the same set.  I picked a pink flower from the designer paper to diecut the heart then gave that the glitter-treatment too around the edges.  Here is a close-up:

The ribbon was attached in 2 separate elements and the bow itself was made using my Bow Easy.  I added Fray Stop to the cut ends to stop them from fraying.

Lastly, I added the 3 x pink Candi Dots using dimensionals.

After I finished my card, I thought the brown ink on the image/sentiment looked a little insipid so I went over the image/sentiment using a Faber-Castell Dark Sepia Artist pen which I was far happier with.

Finished size is 5-1/4" square or 135mm if you are metric.

It  feels like forever since I last posted.  It all started when I dropped a Spellbinders die down the back of my chest of drawers which holds most of my craft stuff.....nuts.......which meant I had to move my plastic boxes which contain more craft stuff off the top of the chest of drawers so I could move the drawers away from the wall....and then I thought I should have a tidy-up while I was at it......yadda yadda yadda.....and before I knew it, a week had gone by before I finally retrieved my die!  But, my craft room looks so much neater and I was able to get together a nice pile of crafting magazines which I put in the magazine swap box at my local library.  I was so pleased that after I dropped the magazines off and went into the library for a browse, by the time I came out, most of the magazines had already been snapped up by a very happy little group of ladies

Anyway - onto my card........  I made this CAS (Clean and Simple) card for our family's Osteopath and his partner who have just become a parents for the first time to a little girl (obviously).  He and his partner had a bit of rough time with the pregnancy and the baby came very early and is still in hospital in a humidicrib.  The baby is doing very well but they are not allowed to hold the baby yet and had to go home without the baby!  I can't imagine how that must feel - to go home without the baby - but they are keeping busy buying baby things and setting up the baby's room as they had virtually nothing ready:

The gorgeous embossing on the pink cardstock was done with one of my fav folders by K Kingdom.  I coloured the image with OMS and Prismacolor + Derwent Coloursoft pencils and added some Kindyglitz Crystalina to the teddy's bow and the nappy pin on the hedgie.  I cut out the image and popped it up on 1mm doublesided foam squares. 

The tag is a fabby new die and clear stamp set by My Favorite Things.  The set comes with several sets of dies apart from the tag itself including the baby growsuit which I have used on my tag.  There is also a variety of sentiments and other images in the stamp set.  Love it!  The dies use the same sandwich in your Cuttlebug as for Spellbinder dies.  I added a strip of pink rhinestones underneath the sentiment.

Once I tied on the ribbon, I glued part of the tag to the ribbon so it would stay in the right place then glued a heart-shaped button to the bow centre.  Here is a little close-up peek:
