Clear and Simple "Oh Boy" - high flying fun boy's birthday card

Hi and welcome to my Blog :-)

I made a boy's birthday card for my great-nephew who is turning 6.  It seems so weird saying that he is my "great nephew" when my DD is only 7 - talk about a generation gap!  And I don't like calling myself a "great aunt" because it makes me feel like a dinosaur!  Anyway, I went for a very quick and simple card 'cos I lost a week with my DD being sick and got my dates all mixed up - somehow I was a week behind.  I'm still not sure where March went and it's the end of the 1st school term this Friday already!!

Anyway, there isn't much to explain about my card.  I coloured the paper aeroplane with 2 different blue Bic Mark-It textas.  I pierced a hole for the sparkly red star brad with my paper piercer (including piercing my finger up underneath the nail bed - ouchy ouchy - lots of blood and it's very, very sore - don't try that at home, will you?!!).

I thought I would use my Stars and Swirls embossing folder on the Kraft cardstock as it just seemed to match the image perfectly and then tied on the airmail twine which also seemed to suit the whole "flying" theme.  I love it when a card comes together easily {happy sigh.......} :-)

Challenges:

I'm popping this card into the Splitcoaststampers "Free for All" Challenge F4A52 of Kinder Birthday which is to make a birthday card for a special child in your life.

I'm also popping this card into the Cards for Men Challenge Blog and the current Challenge #7 is "Embossing" where they want to see some embossing on your card - dry embossing, heat embossing or any other sort of embossing.  And of course, it has to be a card for either a boy or a man.

Thanks for stopping by - hope to see you again soon!

Jocelyn

Cute card Jocelyn. Love the airmail twine.
Ouch, your paper piercer incident sounds painful! LOLed at the bandaid in the ingredients list though...
