Stampin' Up Wonderland Christmas Cards No. 1 and 2
Hi everyone 😊
Today I am sharing two Christmas Cards using a retired Stampin' Up Set called Wonderland. This is one of my favourite all-time sets and could never imagine having to part with it. It's just so versatile and awesome for so many techniques!
To make my card, I ink-blended a piece of Bristol Smooth Cardstock with Stampin' Up inks using Ranger Ink Blending Tools and Domed Pads. The lighter blue is Soft Sky - sadly retired - and the other inks are Lost Lagoon and Night of Navy which are still current.
I then stamped the trees using Night of Navy ink using 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation to add some depth. I lightly went around the image using a bit more of the Night of Navy ink but not all the way around so I could leave the lighter areas.
Recently, I purchased some Daler-Rowney Bleed Proof White Watercolour Ink as it came recommended because it doesn't absorb the background colours like my Posca White pen. And I have to say that it works brilliantly for the snow. I watered it down a little then splattered it using my paintbrush.
When the glue had dried, I layered the panel onto Stampin' Up Night of Navy cardstock and trimmed it to 1/8" using a We R Memory Keepers Layer Guide.
I made two cards the same but when I looked at my 2nd card, I had smeared the Night of Navy ink in the lighter area on the top right-hand side so I thought it was ruined. On a whim, I thought I would spray the area with water and the ink started running in that area - and so did the trees and I absolutely LOVED how it looked. It made it look all misty and a bit like a blizzard so I dried it off and re-did the snow as being white watercolour, it ran too when I added the water.
Here is the result:
The sentiment was stamped using Night of Navy ink. I used my Stamping Platform so I could get perfect placement plus I needed to re-stamp it a few times to get a good impression.
To add some sparkle, I did dots of glue with my Quickie Glue Pen and sprinkled on Hero Arts Prisma Glitter.
Once I had finished my card front, I layered it onto a Kaisercraft White Card Base using Tombow Mono Multi glue.
I wish you could see the sparkle - it looks so pretty in real life.
So which one do you prefer?
I gave the first one to my Stampin' Up Demonstrator Rachel. I have really loved going to her monthly classes for about 2 years now. Sometimes my daughter comes along when she isn't too busy with Uni so it is lovely to craft together. We always make 3 cards in the class and I am always learning something new.
I have lots of other Christmas cards to share as soon as I finish editing my blog posts.
Merry Christmas everyone!
Thanks for visiting my blog today.
